OWERRI – Imo State government has reassured communities that it would continue to assist those that effectively use the grants and given to them for various developmental projects in their communities.
The Commissioner for Public Utilities and Rural Development, Mr. Ralph Nwosu, made governmentâ€™s stand known when he visited the Aro-Umuduru Development Union (ADU), Onuimo Local Government Area and Umunnama Development Union (UDU), Okohia, Isiala Mbano Local Government Area.
He explained that the tour became imperative so as to ascertain first hand, the level of utilization of grants, which was given to the communities in line with the policy thrust of the Ikedi Ohakim administration.
Nwosu, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Prince Fan Osuala, also warned that government loans and grants were not meant for sharing and should not be diverted to other uses.
Earlier in their welcome address, Aro-Umuduru requested for further assistance in the areas of electricity supply, provision of potable water and reconstruction of their road network.
