ABUJA – AS Nigerian Muslims join their counterparts across the world to mark the end of Ramadan and celebration of Sallah, the Acting National Chairman of the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA), Lisa Olu Akerele has called on them to imbibe the spirit of tolerance and sacrifice.
In a Sallah message in Abuja yesterday, Akerele, who appealed to Muslims to emulate Prophet Ibrahim who willingly agreed to sacrifice his most precious possession for mankind, stressed that the one-month fast which faithful moslems had observed should be seen as a period of cleansing and atonement, adding that they should emerge from the Ramadan more determined to live in the path of Allah as true believers.
He advised all politicians, particularly office holders, to live above board by shunning corruption and manipulation of the electoral process to enable democracy thrive in the country.
The acting National Chairman appealed to members of the party to join hands with him to “ensure that his crusade to rid PPA of tyrants and demi-gods was successful, adding that the democratic drive of Nigeria would fail if internal democracy in political parties was not entrenchedâ€.
