Governance has human face, Edo PDP tells gov
By Simon EBEGBULEM,
Leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Orhionmwon Local Government Council, has appealed to Governor Adams Oshiomhole to approach the business of governance in the state with human face particularly as regards to his tax reform programme.
Also, the Orhionmwon PDP leaders have agreed to bury their hatchets so as to move the party forward.
But the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, Mr John Mayaki, said the Governor never imposed taxes on the people but the people of the state were only asked to comply with the Pay As You Earn (PAYE), which was a Federal Government tax law and nothing more.
He added that the state Governor “ is some body that meant well for his people and will never want to impose taxes that are unbearable on the people.
The truth is that the opposition PDP has politicized the matter to make it look like the Governor imposed extra taxes on the people which is not true.
And if you watch now, people have started complying because they know that all these years they have not being paying their taxes.
That is why no body is talking about taxes today apart from the PDP that even misruled the state for ten years.
