ENUGUâ€”THE Board of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) says plans have reached advanced stage to upgrade the Corporationâ€™s Training School to a degree awarding institution in order to provide opportunities for professional broadcasters in the country to improve their knowledge.
Chairman of the Board, Chief Boyelayefa Debekeme, who disclosed this during an inspection tour of facilities at the Enugu Zonal Headquarters of the Corporation by members of the board at the weekend, said when the vision is realized, concession would be given to disadvantaged staff that have no university degree to upgrade their educational qualification.
He said that the certificate programme currently being run by the corporationâ€™s training school would be affiliated to the University of Port Harcourt, pointing out that already, a committee of Vice Chancellors was already studying the proposals and would soon come out with a report towards its realization.
Debekeme commended the workforce in the Enugu Zonal Station for exhibiting a high level of professionalism,Â that has sustained the operations of FRCN and also for sustaining the partnership with a Japanese company handling the resuscitation and digitalization of the FRCN Medium Wave Transmitting station.
