ABAKALIKI—The Ebonyi state Government is planning to be among the best ten states in the country by the year 2020.
To show its seriousness on the vision 20-20-20, the state has set up a technical committee, chaired by Prof Egwu U. Egwu, Deputy Vice Chancellor of Ebonyi State University, who believes that the problem of Nigeria’s backwardness is not that of policy implementation but the inability of Nigeria to properly articulate problems of the country.
Prof Egwu, at a briefing in Abakaliki, said that his committee is to articulate the proper problems of the state and that of the country, give options for solutions and that he remained very confident that politicians will no doubt implement the recommendations.
Egwu stated that Ebonyi is to fully harness its comparative advantage in rice production, adjudged to be the best rice in the country to launch the state among the top ten states in Nigeria.
He challenged the media to position itself as the watchdog of the country’s vision 20-20-20, by throwing challenging questions that would help strengthen the scope of the committee.
