DTHA Speaker tasks Delta North on unity

ASABA—SPEAKER of Delta State House of Assembly,  Mr. Martin Okonta, has called for unity among the people of Delta North senatorial district of  the state, to enhance the development of the area.

Addressing a maiden meeting in Asaba, of Anioma Political Forum (APF), a new political group aimed at bringing all indigenes of Anioma together, he lamented the disunity and lack of co-operation among the people.

A statement by the Speaker’s Media Assistant, Mr. Frank-Whyte Osabohian, said Okonta  explained that the only way the area could move forward politically was for the people to come together under one umbrella and speak with one voice on issues of common interest to the people.

Mr. Okonta charged the people to put their personal interest aside and pursue the collective interest of the people to enable the forum succeed in its objectives.

While stressing the need for a change in the name of the association to reflect the interest of all persons of Anioma extraction the speaker insisted that the group should not be meant for politicians alone.

Earlier, the protem chairman of the group, Professor BIC Ijeoma said the group was formed as the umbrella body of Anioma Nation to champion the political aspiration of the people

He said Delta North people will no longer play second fiddle in the political equation of Delta State.
