ENUGU – A University don, Dr. Ugwu Ujam, has asked Nigerian youths to shun social vices like cultism and moral decadence, which could ruin their future just as he tasked the Federal and State Governments to tackle the problem of joblessness among the youths.
Dr Ujam, who is an Oxford University-trained Associate Professor of Philosophy, spoke at the presentation of a book entitled “Dilemma of Nigerian Youths†authored by Mr. Chukwunonso Ogbe, a graduate of Law from the University of Nigeria.
He said that the challenges confronting Nigerian youths should be given adequate attention in order to guarantee a bright future for the future generation, pointing out that most of the social vices being experienced among the youths were as a result of improper guidance and lack of empowerment.
According to him, the unfortunate situation, which Nigerians youths find themselves has been worsened by the poor economy, which had forced many to resort to various anti-social alternatives to make ends meet.
“Time has come for our leaders to sit down and reflect on the causes of the numerous social vices observed among our youths.  It has therefore become imperative for the government to seek ways of tackling youth unemployment, which is the remote cause of the problem our youths are facing,†Ujam said.
