Deniece, Desmond join MTN Project Fame evictee

As the MTN Project Fame West Africa takes a tougher turn, Ghanian Deniece Williams and Nigerian Desmond David were the two contestants evicted from the popular MTN sponsored musical contest.

The duo were evicted from the 10 week- long academy after surviving through to the 7th week of the show, which had earlier seen five contestants already eliminated since the show began in July.

Following not too impressive performances, Deniese and Desmond had earlier been placed on probation alongside two other Nigerians David and Madonna, as well as Liberian Nicholas Buigar.

Nicholas was saved by the viewers through their votes. Madonna was rescued by the faculty while David won the votes of the other contestants who were not on probation.

The show also had as guest judge, a music expert and the Managing Director of Steven Rhodes Foundation, Gloria Rhodes, who expressed her surprise at the level of improvement and expertise exhibited by the contestants, saying that they have shown so much confidence in their performances and are already appearing like super stars on stage.

“I must say that there has been a great improvement in the performances of the contestants, especially in their vocal dexterity and stage presence. The MTN Project Fame academy has really refined them. I remember how they were, because I also auditioned some of them as judge. But today their is a huge difference in their delivery,”she said.

Following their eviction, Deniece however promised to keep up with the impact of the Academy in her life as she continues to pursue diligently her career in music.

In a related development, another set of contestants were placed on probation, with one of them to be evicted from the academy come today, Saturday, September 12,2009.

The four contestants are Liberian Sametta Moris and the Nigerian trio of Krimi Johnson, Madonna Robinson and David Omodunmiju, who has been on probation more than any other contestants in the competition.

The contestants will be seeking the votes of viewers across the continents as they intensify efforts to put up a resounding performance and remain in the academy. David’s unique number is 3, Krimi is number 7, Madonna is number 8, while Sametta is number 11.
