Delta lawmaker’s mum kidnapped

ASABA—THE mother of the member representing Ndokwa West constituency in Delta State House of Assembly, Mr. Emeka Ukpe, has been kidnapped.
She is madam Comfort Ukpe of over 70 years of age.
Vanguard gathered that she was kidnapped at a petrol station owned by her at about 7:00pm last Thursday at Kwale and taken to an unknown destination.
Family sources told Vanguard that the kidnappers had established contact and are demanding for N100 million before the woman would be released.
The son, lawmaker Ukpe, who was a one-time Chairman of Ndokwa West local government council, confirmed the kidnap story when Vanguard called at his residence yesterday, saying “I am pleading that they should release mamaâ€.
On the ransom, Ukpe said “yes, they (kidnappers) are demanding for the money but I am pleadingâ€.
State Police command’s spokesman, Mr. Charles Muka, said “the State Criminal Investigation Departmment (SCID) is already handling the matterâ€.
