Cleric asks FG, states to support UNICEF’s programmes
By Peter Duru
MAKURDI — The Federal and State Governments have been urged to show greater commitment in partnering and supporting the United Nation Children’s Fund (UNICEF) initiatives and programmes which are geared towards checking childhood killer diseases in the country.
Regional Pastor in charge of the NKST Church in Ugba, Logo Local Government Area of Benue State, the Rev. Peter Kur, gave this advice while delivering a sermon at the Special thanksgiving service to flag off of activities in commemoration of the World Breast Feeding Week Celebration in Benue State.
Pastor Kur noted that adequate government support for UNICEF programmes in the country would to a large extent bolster the programmes of the world body in the country especially in the remote rural communities.
He noted that through its far reaching healthcare programmes and advocacies, the UNICEF has taken healthcare delivery to the down trodden and by so doing proved itself a worthy partner in the health sector in Benue State and Nigeria as a whole.
