AWKA— THE All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra state, has urged the electorate in the state not to give the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) any chance of getting a hold on the state again, saying that the people were yet to recover from the mayhem caused by the party in the state between 1999 and 2006.
State chairman of the party, Chief Akunwata Kwentoh, who spoke with newsmen in Awka, observed that as a result of what he called self-inflicted crisis in PDP, Anambra state was made ungovernable during the administration of Dr. Chinwoke Mbadinuju.
“Due to unpopularity of the Mbadinuju administration, the Anambra electorate rejected the party in 2003, but PDP characteristically rigged the elections and imposed Dr. Chris Ngige on the people.
The Ngige administration was also plagued by monumental political upheavals, which apart from damaging the corporate image of Anambra state, led to the November 2004 mayhem, during which public and private property worth millions of naira were destroyed,†Kwentoh said.
