AHI Residence: Hotel where alcohol is not allowed

By Jimoh Babajide
For many investors in the hospitality sector of the tourism industry, one thing they can not afford to play with is the issue of the sales of alcohol. There are few hotels in Nigeria where alcohol sales are not allowed.

One of such is the AHI Residence,  an 18-room  bed and breakfast, non-smoking, alcohol-free facility located on the Lagos Mainland.
Explaining reason for the non-alcohol sales in the hotel, Miss Fubara Charity, General Services Executive, said the AHI Residence is designed for professionals who require a serene and comfortable accommodation for strategic retreats, seminars, workshops and business meetings.

She added that the environment is for  academic or intellectual reflection and output, especially those using the adjourning halls and meeting rooms at Action Health Incorporated’s (AHI) office complex.

“It is not a hotel or an inn that welcomes guests requiring accommodation for leisure, pleasure, or family vacations. The profile of preferred guests includes: Organisations conducting training and are using the training/conference facility in AHI; social development workers, academia and those on professional training programmes in the Lagos area.

Fubara explained that clients from corporate organisations and individuals need to be referred by their institutions. “All guests must have referenced documentation to back up their reservation.  The only acceptable forms of identification for occupancy documentation when checking in are guest’s international passport, national identity card, or driver’s licence.”

She said with the clientele already factored into their plans, “it is not difficult to have the hotel fully occupied.”
The rooms in the hotel range from classic rooms to executive rooms. The executive rooms have flat screen television with   luxury bedding – crisp linen, thicker mattress, fluffier pillows; desk with lamp and ergonomic chair keeps you productive; data port for free internet access; personal digital safe; in-suite bathroom with shower cubicle and mini-fridge and complimentary tea/coffee tray.

The interior of the hotel is designed to the highest standard. An entry into the reception area confirms the attention paid to the minutest details in the interior decoration. Much attention was paid to the hotel interiors as they tried to conform the look to the finishes. The hotel management used the colours of the floor each room is located to express the colours in the rooms as well as the bedding and other fittings.

The  hotel décor is given utmost importance keeping the kind of guests in mind. Comfort is the keyword in the hotel décor. The furniture and the interiors are  so comfortable that the guests feel at ease when they are there.

One of such areas is the TV lounge which is a unique concept on its own as guests who don’t want to receive visitors in their rooms have them in the lounge. The TV lounge blends contemporary décor with stylish furnishings to create an atmosphere of casual hospitality.
The roof top terrace for the guests’ relaxation is an added attraction in the hotel as guests can see the beauty of the Yaba and Mainland areas of Lagos while having a meal or just relaxing.

For lovers of good food, the hotel provides guests with  variety of freshly prepared hot breakfast entrees in the restaurant. Items served daily include: toasts, sausages, omelettes, cereals, fruits and juices, as well as Nigerian breakfast dishes.

With issue of security well taken care of, the AHI Residence offers conference facilities. The adjourning halls and meeting rooms at Action Health Incorporated’s (AHI) office complex are ideal for use by corporate organisations, professional associations or civil society organisations who need a comfortable environment for strategy development retreats, seminars, workshops and business meetings.

The hotel offers meeting and event facilities to host annual conferences and seminars. From one day meetings to extended seminars, the hotel’s acclaimed individualised service, attention to detail and superior accommodation will ensure a meeting experience that is flawless, productive and unforgettable.
