606,538 fly in through MMA – Immigration

THE Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, said 606,538 passengers arrived the country through Murtala Muhammad International Airport, MMA, Ikeja between January and July this year while 902,161 departed through the airport.
This is against 1,108,710 for arrival and 984,835 departures recorded during the same period in 2008. Meanwhile the Zone A Command of the NIS said the zone, which oversees Lagos and Ogun states, realized N3,627,960,619 revenue while $ 214,000 was generated as fine from airlines for bringing into Nigeria illegal aliens.
Also the zone apprehended 195 illegal aliens who were repatriated while 423 others who were found inadmissible into the country were refused entry.
These were disclosed during the visit of the minister of state for interior, Chief Ademola
Seriki, to the NIS Zone A Command. He said “the command should stop issuing of passport to third party.
Whoever needs a passport should come to the NIS himself and avoid sending third party.”
