AWKA- ABOUT 300 people from otherÂ political parties in Ihiala have declared for the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) at a ceremonyÂ in the town witnessed by Governor Peter Obi and members of the State Executive of the party.
Receiving the new members, the state chairman of the party, Chief Mike Kwentoh noted that it was a demonstration of their confidence and appreciation of the outstanding performance of the Governor and gave an assurance that the party would continue to carry everybody along in an effort toÂ entrench a lasting democracy.
The organising secretary of the party in Ihiala, Mr. Joakins Obi said the success recorded by the Governor in the comprehensive development of the State had qualified him for a second tenure.
He listed projects executed in various parts of the local government area, including water schemes, infrastructural development at Uli campus of the State University, construction of Azia-Lilu-Mbosi-Orsumoghu-Isseke-Ubulusiuzor road and rehabilitation of school structures as examplary.
Speaking on behalf of the new members, Colonel Andrew Ohanehi (rtd) said he decided to join the party because of Governor Obiâ€™s achievements.
According to him, Governor Obiâ€™s administration was the first government that carried the area along and given the people a sense of belonging and assured him of total victory in future elections.
