CALABAR-The Cross River State government has debunked stories making the round in the state of a purported plan by the Boko Haram sect to cause mayhem and destruction in the state.
In a press statement signed by Mr. Patrick Ugbe, Chief Press Secretary/ Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, the governor informed Cross Riverians and residents that there was no truth in the rumour and, as such, should disregard it and go about their lawful duties/businesses.
According to Ugbe, government shall not hesitate to deal decisively with any person or group of persons who attempts to disrupt the peace currently being enjoyed in the state.
“We advise all well meaning individuals to desist from spreading or peddling such rumours. Cross River state remains a peaceful state with people of different religions coexisting peacefully,” the government said.
I wonder what our immigration personels are doing in this country. You see a lot of people from different countries flooding the streets of several states in the country. The question is how did they come into the country? During census they will be counted as a particular group of people. What is going on in this country? Immigrations should be probed.
It surprises me how Nigerian government and police treat serious issues like this without a single concern. A serving president in this country once said a serving minister was killed by robbers without giving the law enforcement agents a chance to do their jobs.Before members of this dreaded group struck in the north,it was rumoured they will strike and the did, wounding and maiming hundreds while billions of naira worth of properties were destroyed.How long can we continue like this?
THERE IS AN INFLUX OF PEOPLE FROM NIGER / CHAD INTO CROSS RIVER. YOU SEE THEIR WOMEN SELLING HERBS AND THEIR MEN WALKING AROUND WITH THEIR COBBLER SET. COULD THEY CAUSE TROUBLE? YES
Mr Patrick Ugbe, remember that in every rumour there is element of truth, this people are very dangerous, my Father and sisters are victim but thank God for the quick intervention after they have force them and change there name to muslem name, you people should be on a watch in your state that is refers as tourism state but dont claim that it is rumour, remember there are so many people that can be used there
