Former Green Eagles coach Chukwu Christian says he believes in miracle but when the Green Eagles case is taken into context as regards the 2010 World Cup qualification, the coach says miracle may not help Eagles.
According to Chukwu, Amodu and his boys had a golden opportunity of being in the driver’s seat in the group but lack of determination, commitment and flagrant displace of un-professionalism on the part of players has now seen them in the passenger’s seat
“Miracle could be real especially as it happens to people. I have seen extraordinary things happen to people but when it comes to football it is a different thing entirely,†he began.
“Concerning our chances in the forthcoming World Cup, it is going to be a difficult task on our part especially with Tunisia very eager to be in the World Cup. The Eagles really squandered their chances of topping the group. And unless luck falls on our side, our qualification for the first ever World Cup to be staged in Africa will be a mirage.
“Now they should just focus on the two remaining matches and wait for the result of the north African side,†said the former Harambee Stars of Kenya coach in a chat with Saturday Vanguard sports.
However, concerning the call for the sack of coach Amodu, Chukwu opines that showing the Edo State-born tactician the exit door may not be the best decision, particularly in this heat. “They should just leave him to finish what he has started. Whatever comes out should be their final say,†he concluded.
