Jehovah’s witnesses schedule 232 conventions in 32 cities

FROM September 25, 2009 through January 2010, Jehovah’s Witnesses in Nigeria will hold 232 conventions in 32 cities.

Titled, “Keep on the Watch”, the convention would highlight significant developments in the world, in fulfillment of Bible’s prophecies.

A statement from the convention ground invites all to attend the 3-day event, which will kick off simultaneously in Daluwon and Ota (Ogun State) and Badagry in Lagos, from Friday till Sunday each week.

The organizers noted that the theme is based on Jesus’ admonition to his followers at Mathew 24:42, urging them to “keep on the watch” by looking out as world events fulfill Bible’s prophecies, stressing that the Apostle Paul emphasized the urgency of being alert especially in this time that we are living.

“Jehovah’s witnesses take such texts seriously, as world events indicate fulfillment of Jesus’ multifaceted prophecy concerning his presence as King of God’s incoming Kingdom and about the ‘conclusion of this system of things’ ”.

The statement added that the convention will emphasize the urgency of the global preaching work that Jesus spoke about. “It will also highlight the parallel between Noah’s day and ours as noted at Mathew 24:37- 39”, the statement said.

It added that the convention would be heralded with the distribution of a well illustrated invitation, noting that nobody would be questioned for attending without a personalized invitation.

“At least 2000 congregations with about 150,000 witnesses are expected at the convention grounds”, the statement said, noting that all who attend will benefit from the timely and practical materials that would be presented.

“Worldwide, there are over 7,100,000 witnesses in more than 103,000 congregations. They are members of a worldwide Christian religion who actively share with others information about God, whose name is Jehovah and about his son, Jesus Christ. They view first century Christians as role model. They believe that in addition to drawing one closer to God, living by Bible principles gives purpose to life, promotes strong family ties and develops productive and honest citizens”.

I feel the need to respond to your comment regarding John: 1: 1. ” In the beginning the Word was and word was with God and the word was a god.” Yes here John was talking about Jesus. No doubt. None theless this statement does not say Jesus was Jehovah. In addition to John 20:28 when Thomas said “My Lord my God”. It was a reaction to Jesus after his resurection. Also please read John 20: 17. This is where reasonning from the scriptures will help you learn the truth. If Jesus is God why then ” When Jesus left the temple and went to the Mount of Olives Peter , james and John and Andrews beging to ask him privaly when will these things be, and what would be the sign” “They were asking about then end of the world and the return of Jesus” Mark 13: 3 Now continnue with verse 32 Jesus said ” Of that day or that hour no ones knows, not even the angels in heavenn nor the Son, but only the Father”. Why would he say only the Father? It is because he is not the Father. The bible does not teach Trinity that it a man doctrine. Please read your bible cover to cover. It only takes a year by readind four to five chapters a day. The truth will set you free and it will save life.

they are no christians because christians are followers of Jesus Christ who beleive and teach that he is not just son and less than God but God the son. John 1:1. 20:28. For years the Pentecostals, Protestants and Catholic Theologians have asked them to make clear and translate the real meaning of the Greek John 1:1. They did well with JOhn 20:28 where thomas said “my lord and my God “referring to Jesus. Christ-ians follow Jesus and take him as Lord and savior. Jehovahs (yahweh) which is wrongly used do not beleive in Jesus as God! thus they no Christians and stop using his name to deceive truth seekers. The first century Christinity still exist why form a new one in the 18th c? read matt 7.

People who think they have a problem with Jehovah Witnesses only have a problem with what the Bible teach therefore have a problem with God. The Bible is from him. People do not like to hear the truth.

” There will be a period of time when they will not put up with the teaching , but, in accord with their own desires, They will accumulate teachers for themselves to have their ears tickled. ” 2 Tim 4:3
