ISSUES, rather than amount of money in the pocket, will determine who becomes the next governor of Anambra State in the 2010 election in the state.
Chief Alex Obiogbolu, one of the governorship aspirants, said gone were the days where the sole parameter for becoming the governor is the weight of your financial standard, either directly or indirectly.
He said political awareness has increased compared to what the system had in 2007. Obiogbolu is contesting the governorship on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
“Money is good but it is not the ultimate in this race to the Government House. More than anything, it is what you come up with, what is practicable, that will determine at the end of the day who becomes the governor. This era is issued based, not money basedâ€, he noted.
Obiogbolu said he believes very strongly in political structures than the hype some of his co-contestants get on the pages of the newspapers.“ With my 18 years in politics, there is no doubt that I have established political structures that include alliances, loyalty, and goodwill.”
