OWERRI – The leadership of Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has dissociated itself from the activities of what it called “a group of faceless Igbo elements in London, calling for the formation of Biafra Army to disrupt the governorship election in Anambra State in 2010â€.
MASSOB also made it very clear that it has no intention, whether hidden or expressed, to disrupt the Anambra governorship election scheduled for next year.
Confirming the organization’s stand in a telephone interview, the protagonist of Biafra, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, insisted that “MASSOB does not intend to sponsor any of the gubernatorial candidates, especially Mr. Emeka Etiaba, in the said electionâ€.
According to Chief Uwazuruike, “MASSOB is still a non-violent organization and has no intention of forming an army in the course of pursuing the actualization of Biafraâ€.
Answering a question, Uwazuruike said his group’s intelligence report revealed that the faceless group in London recently collected huge sums of money from one politician in Abuja, in the name of MASSOB, to disrupt the 2010 election in Anambra State.
While saying that “the leaders of the faceless group have been declared wanted in Biafra to explain why they used the name of MASSOB in such a dishonourable actâ€, he also cautioned the organization’s loyalists “not to make any contributions to the faceless group as their approach is opposed to our non-violent principleâ€.
