DELTA State yesterday recorded a major medical feat when a private clinic in Warri delivered its first “test-tube†bouncing baby boy through the Assisted Reproductive Technology system, otherwise known as Intro-Fertilisation (IVF).
The baby, weighing 4kg, was delivered at 10 a.m. Monday, at the Lily Hospitals, Centre for Assisted Reproductive Technology and Minimal Invasive Surgery, according to Dr. Louis Alekwe, a Consultant Obstetrician/Gynaecologist and a Co-Medical Director of the Hospital.
The father of the child, Mr. Frank Edegware, told Vanguard at the hospital that they have been on the search for the miracle baby for several years until they started the IVF process.
However, amidst the celebration of joy, the mother was seen lying on her bed unperturbed in deep slumber while Edegware was everywhere praising God for His mercies.
