WARRI—IN its bid to sustain a mutually beneficial relationship and assist indigenes of her host communities, Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) yesterday doled out N9 million to eleven co-operative societies in three communities in Orhiomwon council area of Edo State.
The oil-bearing area in Edo State shares common boundary with Oben, Iguelaba and Ikobi in Delta State.
Presenting the cheques to the benefiting associations at the Royal Marble Hotel, Benin City, on behalf of the Anglo-Dutch oil giant, the Community Relations Coordinator, Major Projects, West, Mr. Sonny Okoh, said the facility was to enable them kick-start small scale businesses of their own and charged them to put the loans into judicious use.
He also charged them to endeavour to repay the loan so they could get more loans and give others the opportunity to also benefit from the facility.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Chairman of Iguelaba community, Mr.Roland Aigbogun, thanked the company for the gesture.
He said the facility would go a long way in sustaining the long harmonious relationship existing between both parties, and promised not to disappoint the SPDC.
