Driven by investorsÂ renewed interest market, the value of listed equities appreciated, Tuesday, by N120.13 billion.The market capitalisation which opened at N5.15 trillion rose by 2.3 per centÂ to close at N5.27 trillion. Also the All-share index rose by 2.3 per cent or 524.06 basis points to close at 22,984.14 points from 22,460.08.Oando Plc recorded the highest share price gain, rising by N4.49 to close at N98.99 per share from N94.50 per share at which it opened, followed by Conoil Plc gaining N2.46 to close at N51.81 per share and Benue Cement Company Plc which appreciated by N1.64 to close at N34.56 per share.
Other share price gainers include: Lafarge Cement WAPCO Plc N1.50, Flour Mills Nigeria Plc N0.97, Glaxo SmithKline Consumer Plc N0.89, P Z Cussons Plc N0.82, UACN Property Development Company Plc N0.76, Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc N0.73, Ecobank Transnational Incorporated Plc N0.69 among others.
On the contrary, Seven-Up Bottling Company Plc recorded the most share price loss, shedding N1.60 to close at N30.40 per share from N32.00 per share at which it opened, followed by Guinness Nigeria Plc dropping N1.50 to close at N139.50 per share and Eterna Oil and Gas Plc lost N0.84 to close at N16.01 per share.
Other share price losers include: DN Meyer Plc N0.40, Portland Paints and Products Plc N0.38, Longman Nigeria Plc N0.32, Presco Plc N0.23, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc N0.20, Costain (WA) PlcÂ N0.15 and Neimeth International Pharmaceutical Plc N0.12, among others.
However, equity trading recorded a 50 per cent depreciation, as a turnover of 312.65 million shares valued at N2.31 billion was recorded in 5,606 deals, in contrast to the previous dayâ€™s trading of 624.29 million shares valued at N3.10 billion in 6,324 deals.
The Banking sub-sector emerged the most active in the sectorial analysis, accounting for 46.5 per cent of the market turnover, with 145.47 million shares valued at N940.02 million in 2,182 deals. Fidelity Bank Plc emerged the most patronised in the sub-sector trading 24.24 million shares valued at N46.67 million in 221 deals, followed by First Bank of Nigeria Plc, exchanging 18.73 million shares valued at N262.08 million in 563 deals and BankPHB Plc recorded 15.46 million shares valuedÂ at N63.12 million in 172 deals.
The Insurance Sub-sector followed in the sectorial analysis, accounting for 19 per cent of the marketÂ turnover, with 59.25 million shares valued at N46.72 million in 713 deals. Aiico Insurance Plc recorded the highest transaction in the sub-sector with 15.37 million shares valued at N14.00 millionÂ in 193 deals, followed by International Energy Insurance Plc exchanging 8.9 million shares valuedÂ at N6.32 million in 38 deals and Cornerstone Insurance Plc recorded 8.32 million shares valued at N6.27 million in 36 deals.
