•Chukwu sends SOS to Gov Chime
THE trouble in the house of Rangers International of Enugu is far from being over as the board of the club after its meeting yesterday resolved to advertise the position of Christian Chukwu (Technical Adviser) and four other technical positions for the best Nigerian coach. The other positions that are up for grabs and open to all Nigerians include Chief Coach, Team Manager, Assistant Coach and Goalkeepers trainer.
According to Foxter Chime, the board after its meeting attended by special assistant to Governor Sullivan Chime, Victor Atuonwu, fixed the date of the interview for September 5, 2009, at the Quizotel Enugu. But in a swift reaction, former Green Eagles captain and technical Adviser of Rangers, Christian Chukwu, said that instead of singling out the technical crew that both the management team should also be advertised for the best Nigerians to apply.
“They should dissolve everything so that we can have a fresh team for Rangers. The problem of Rangers is not technical but managerial. The whole thing has political undertone. But I pray that Governor Chime in his wisdom should intervene and save Rangers. He has put in so much and should not allow journey men to relegate Rangers. First, players should be paid their sign-on feesâ€, Chukwu who arguably remains the best thing to happen to the Club said on our hotline.
Asked if he would re-apply, Chukwu said that he would only re-apply if the management team is dissolved. “What if I re-apply and get the job? Do I go back to work with the same management? That will be like pouring a new wine into a sour wine. The problem of Rangers remains managerial and we are waiting for Governor Chime to save Rangers from hawksâ€, Chukwu emphasised.
