ABUJA—SERVICOM, an agency established by the Federal Government to evaluate the quality of services rendered by government ministries, departments and agencies yesterday passed a verdict of woeful performance on all the 200 existing ministerial units of government and particularly singled out the Police and Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) for shameful services.
According to the agency’s evaluation, none of the 200 ministerial units of SERVICOM passed an average performance index Chief SERVICOM officer, Dr. Mrs Christiano Famro who spoke in Abuja during the inauguration of the legal Aid Council of Nigeria SERVICOM unit yesterday, said that unless drastic steps were taken with a view to improving the quality of service delivery in the country, it would be difficult for the Federal Government to attain its vision 20-20-20 goals.
She therefore tasked the Legal Aid unit to abide by the SERVICOM charter, by ensuring that there is improvement on the quality of legal assistance it offers to indigent Nigerians.
In response, the Director General of the legal Aid Council of Nigeria, Mrs Leticia Nwakaku Akinlami, thanked SERVICOM for opening the new unit in the council and promised to identify all frontline points of service within the council as well as to sensitise the entire staff towards making efficient and reliable service readily available to all Nigerians.
She applauded the re-branding of the federal government and underscored importance of change of orientation and attitude as a road map towards achieving efficient and qualitative service delivery in Nigeria.
Servicom as an intervention agency between the Federal government of Nigeria and its people gives Nigerians the right to demand good service from government agencies.
