UGHELLI—A Sapele-based cleric, Pastor Sunday Aigbe says only the application of truth could resolve the Niger Delta quagmire and insisted that no nation could develop in an atmosphere of oppression characterized by violence.
Aigbe who stated this while fielding questions from reporters in Sapele recently, said unless Nigerian leaders are sincere to themselves and live by the truth which would act as a catalyst, the Niger Delta problem would remain unresolved.
He noted that only the truth would heal the injured hearts of the Niger Delta people and decried the current trend of destruction.
He lamented the large scale of the oppression of the inhabitants of the region and wondered why the northerners should continue to dictate for the people of the Niger Delta despite their oil wealth and said the plight of the Niger Delta goes beyond mere marginalization.
Aigbe who is pastor with the Mountain of Fire Ministry, bemoaned the sorry state of the country, saying the country was retrogressing instead of progressing.
He described the immediate Past Governor of Delta state, Chief James Onanefe Ibori as an achiever.
While appealing to the federal government to allow the people of the Niger Delta control their resources, he called for training of Niger Delta Youths for lucrative jobs.
