Chairman of African Democratic Congress (ADC), Chief Okey Nwosu has joined the governorship race in Anambra state, following the stakeholders meeting in Awka, the state capital, at the weekend.
Addressing newsmen in Awka after the decision was taken, he said, “I have finally succumbed to the mounting pressure by youths, including students’ union leaders of various institutions in the state, Women For Better Anambra (WFBA), widows and other well-meaning people of Anambra state to contest the coming 2010 governorship election, to help salvage whatever remains of the ruins of the state. What we are now concerned with is to work hard to possibly capture the top seat in the 2010 governorship election in the state.
“I have accepted unambiguously to shoulder the responsibility, believing that Anambra is redeemable, to give our youths a new sense of direction by creating jobs and empowering both our youths and mothers, who, we believe are entitled to live a good life,†he said.
