Lagos - Member of the Lagos State Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) have commended Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State for his untiring massive turn-around projects rapidly transforming the state into a mega city.
This was one of the resolutions of the union at the end of its workers forum made available to newsmen yesterday in Lagos.
A statement signed by Lagos State president, Comrade Lasisi Akinsanya, said: “The forum pledges local government workers’ total support for the stance taken by Governor Babatunde Fashola administration. We also called on all well meaning Nigerians to stand up for the defence of democracy and the rule of law.
“Having appraised the activities of the 57 local governments/local council development areas and felt satisfied with the excellent performance recorded, we equally call for more delivery of dividends of democracy to the people.â€
Apparently referring to the Federal Government insisted that Lagos must revert to the original 20 local government area, the statement said: “The workers forum expressed the local government workers’ dismay over the recent directive of the Federal Government that Lagos should cancel the additional 37 LCDAs.
We observed that the 37 LCDAs have been alive to its responsibilities, strong and viable without Lagos State government requesting any additional funding from the Federation Account, with the fact that the state government followed all laid down procedures in the creation of the 37 LCDAs.”
