Owerri – The management of Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, Owerri, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Institute of Agricultural Research and Training (IAR&T), Moor Plantation, Ibadan, for collaboration in the areas of fabrication, research, construction and entrepreneurship development
The document was signed when a team from IAR&T paid a working visit to the Polytechnic, Nekede.
Vanguard gathered that the collaboration involves identification and refining projects from the Polytechnic and IAR&T, which have commercial values, patenting and commercializing such projects, as well as exporting and sale of finished products.
It was also gathered that the MoU will equally involve mutual staff training and exchange, conferences and exhibitions, while IAR&T shall accept as many students from the Polytechnic, Nekede, as possible for industrial training and the Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES).
Welcoming the officials earlier, the Rector, Engr. OnyekwereÂ Nwankwo, described the visit and the MoU, as â€œtimely, crucial, forward looking and most beneficial to the staff and students of the Polytechnicâ€.
He gave a quick outline of the achievements of his administration and urged his guests to take some time out of their tight schedule to go round the school and see the facilities the Polytechnic has on ground.
