Jos — Plateau State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Edward Pwajok, has expressed support for the suit instituted by the Professor Dakum Shown-led executive of the PDP in Plateau State challenging its dissolution by the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).
He told journalists in a reaction to the development that the suit would help stem the, “crippling tyranny†and arbitrariness sometimes exhibited by the national secretariat of the party.
He said it was disappointing that the NWC still went ahead to inaugurate the caretaker committee despite being aware that a suit challenging its action had been instituted.
Pwajok said the country’s Constitution was superior to that of the party hence, members who felt certain rights of theirs have been breached had a right to go to court to challenge the breach.
He cited as example the case of Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State who challenged his expulsion and replacement as the PDP governorship candidate in court and won, saying the supremacy of the Rule of Law should also prevail in the current matter.
He said the prayers of the group in the substantive suit would include quashing aspects of the party’s constitution that infringed on the rights of individual members such as the one that allows the arbitrary dissolution of elective party executive committees.
Pwajok, who insisted he was speaking as a concerned party member and not in his official capacity, believed that justice would be done in the matter.
