Imo state Government mobilises for Heartland
Each of the 17 Local Councils in Imo State will send bus loads of supporters to Ilorin to cheer Heartland FC in their second attempt to win the Glo Super 4. Heartland lost at the knock-out stage of the Super 8 in Kano last year but rebounded to give a fierce chase to Bayelsa United in the 2008/09 Globacom Premier League season.
“His Excellency, Governor Ikedi Ohakim has mandated all the council care-taker committee chairmen to mobilise fans in their domain for the tournamentâ€, disclosed an unnamed official of Heartland FC.
He said Heartland will be in Ilorin with no fewer than 2000 travelling fans that will team up with other fans based in the state and surrounding states like Kogi , Niger and Ondo states.
The official further disclosed that the tournament will serve as tune-up for the team in their continental chase for the CAF Champions League. “Winning the Glo Super 4 will add impetus to our chase for the CAF Champions Leagueâ€, he said
