Indication emerged yesterday that the 19-year-boy who disguised as a lady was a suspected member of a robbery gang who used such means to attack men in designated places including prominent hotels and eateries in different parts of the country.
This followed an account rendered yesterday by one of the acclaimed victims who said he was robbed at gun- point by the members of the suspect’s gang two weeks ago in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
The complainant identified as Felix Ananbraba, who spoke to journalists on phone, said the suspect, Uche Okoro, who was dressed in female attire, introduced herself as Perpetual Nkwocha, captain of the national female football team when they met.
He, however, expressed shock when two days later, the suspect led him to an Infinity jeep which she claimed was her’s, only to be accosted by some men who pointed a gun at him and dispossessed him of his NOKIA 5270 phone and N23,000 cash.
Said he, “I never suspected she was a man. The very first time I met her was at ANGIN bar at number 18 Alelewon street, G.R.A Port Harcourt, where she introduced herself as Perpetual Nwocha. Elated, I told her I was one of her fans and she said I was lucky because she liked me. She even said Mikel Obi was her first boy friend and promised to transform my life if I married her. But to my shock , two days later, she came in an Infinity jeep and invited me to come greet her mother who she claimed was in the car, only for some men to point a gun at me on opening the door, striping me of everything I had before they zoomed off.
“But when I opened the papers last Friday and read the story and saw his picture, I realised he was the same person that robbed me,†he narrated on phone.
“During investigation, it was reportedly discovered that the suspect had a pending case in court over similar incident after he was arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, three months ago. He was also discovered to have checked into one of the prominent hotels in the Yaba area last week, disguising as a lady and identified herself as Perpetual Nkwocha, claiming she just arrived from Sweden,”he added.
“When her baggage was searched after he was arrested, some super- imposed pictures with known faces in the movie industry as well as prominent Nigerian footballers were recovered including expensive female costumes,” he added.
On his part, the suspect who denied being a member of any robbery gang, said all he was into was merely to extort unsuspecting men and use what he realised to travel outside the country from where he envisaged changing into a new leaf.
