SAPELE â€” A group, Ethiope Federal Constituency Elites, has described the member ofÂ Â House of Representatives representing Ethiope Federal Constituency of Delta State, Halims Agoda, as a worthy ambassador who deserves a pride of place in Urhobo Hall of Fame. It appealed to the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) to give him an award of excellence in recognition of his contribu-tions to debates and other legislative procedures on the floor of the Federal House of Represen-tatives.
Speaking to journalists in Sapele, leader of the group and a renowned educationist in Delta State, Mr. Irikefe Edward, explained that Agodaâ€™s maturity and intellectual contribution to issues at the National Assembly has exposed Nigerians to the fact that every Urhobo person is an intellectual giant, adding that the time has come for Agoda to be honoured in order to encourage him and other illustrious sons of Urhobo Nation doing the nation proud in their respective of endeavours.
Mr. Irikefe maintained that Agodaâ€™s intellectual endowment, humility, patience, uprightness, and tendencies towards doing good to the down-trodden back home in his constituency is enough justification while the group is canvassing for his inclusion in Urhobos Hall of Fame and Award for Excellence.
He appealed to all Urhobo sons and daughters both at home and in the Diaspora to support Agoda in his quest to give his constituency qualitative representation at the Federal House of Representatives.
Mr. Irikefe who commended the UPU for the recent Urhobo summit held at Effurun, Warri, advised the Urhobo Political elites and other groups within the Urhobo Nation to shun the politics of â€œPull him down to climbâ€, adding that it is not the culture of the Urhobos to rejoice over his neighbourâ€™s downfall.
