Globacom has set aside N9m as appearance fees and prize money for the 2009 Glo Super 4 slated for the Ilorin Township Stadium from August 17-22. Each club will receive N1m appearance fee while the Glo Super 4 Champion will cart away N3m. The second and third placed teams will grab N1. 5m and N.5m.
Mohamed Jameel, the Group Chief Operating Officer, Globacom Limited, said the company has introduced the appearance fee to ensure that all participating teams went home with something unlike in the past when only the winner received a reward.
“The introduction of appearance fees and prize money is to make the Globacom Premier League more competitive and also motivate the clubs.
At the end of the day, we may also establish a big four tradition as you have in England, Spain and Italy â€, Jameel said.
Bayelsa United, Heartland FC, Enyimba International and Warri Wolves are the teams participating in this year’s Glo Super 4. Of the four teams, only Enyimba has won a previous Glo Super 4 tournament.
