Abuja â€“ The Federal Government in itsÂ bid to steer up industrial activities in the economy yesterday inaugurated the committee on National Productivity Centre Order of Merit Award with the mandate to effectively encourage andÂ Â reward Nigerian industrialists and organisations that haveÂ contributed to the economic advancement ofÂ theÂ country.
InauguratingÂ the committee, the Minister ofÂ Labour andÂ Productivity, Mr. Adetokunbo Kayode stated that â€œgovernment is desirous to improve on theÂ social economicÂ Â development of the country and therefore finds it necessaryÂ to always identify and reward outstanding entrepreneurs, especially as theÂ country is more enthusiastic in realizing theÂ economic adjectives ofÂ the vision 2020, with the hope of making Nigeria to be among 20 largest economies in the world â€.
The mandate ofÂ the 16Â member Committee, which includes Vanguardâ€™s Assistant Editor, (Labour), Mrs. Funmi KomolafeÂ according to the Minister is â€œprimarily to recognize and highlight the contributions of individuals and organisationsÂ in both the public and the private sector and make recommendations to government on how best to assist and reward them.”
