Enugu people see Rangers as“chopping avenue” – Official

*Says the Board on its way out

Patrick Omorodion
An insider of Enugu football took a look at the current brouhaha threatening to smoulder Rangers Football Club and declared that what the foremost oriental club deserves was a clean sweep of its management and officials.

He said that it was regrettable that some indigenes of Enugu see Rangers as “a chopping avenue” and therefore believe that they too must take their turn as appointees of the most successful club in the country before the advent of Enyimba Football Club of Aba which broke the African Champions League jinx for Nigerian clubs.

“Enugu people see Rangers as a chopping avenue and always want to be involved in the running its affairs. Some of them feel that the coach and other officials have stayed too long and therefore should quit,” he said.

When asked what the problem in Rangers over Chukwu’s purported sack, recall and advertisement of his position was, the source said, “the fact is that Chukwu is a failure. He was actually sacked yesterday (Thursday)evening in the presence of the Sports commissioner. In fact the club needs a clean sweep of its officials. I learnt that the Board would soon be swept away too.”

Meanwhile the former Super Eagles coach who argued that the Board could not sack him except the Governor, Sullivan Chime said after the news of the advertisement of his position that he would not re-apply for the job as doing so would mean going back to work with the same Board members he described as “Hawks”. He urged Governor Chime to save Rangers from them.
