Abakaliki – The Ebonyi government has said that only companies, who present their tax clearance certificates and PAYE tax receipts will enjoy government patronage.
Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Ken Uhuo, told newsmen that the State Executive Council took the decision to check tax evasion and boost internally-generated revenue.
“Some companies, contractors and other business concerns do not remit their workers PAYE tax to the state government,†he said.
According to him, government has continued to lose revenue through non- payment of tax.
He said that the Finance Ministry had also been directed to facilitate the payment of personal income tax yearly by all taxable adults in rural areas.
Uhuo said that the state government had revoked the certificate-of-occupancy (C of O) of Tycoon oil filling station for alleged habitual adulteration of petroleum products.
He said that the state government had directed members of the public to stop buying petroleum products from the station.
Uhuo said that the state government only recently impounded a truck loaded with the adulterated petroleum product belonging to Tycoon oil.
“The Council condemned this inhuman action of some petroleum dealers in the state who are in the habit of adulterating the petroleum products they sell to members of the public. Council also notes
