David Mark Youth Golf tourney holes out today

An initiative of the David Mark Foundation, the Youth Development Golf Tournament teed off yesterday with 28 teenage golfers drawn from across the country battling the elements.

The tournament which holds at the IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja was a keen affair as the kid golfers jostled for the rights to mount the tee with world’s number one, Tiger Woods in December in the United States of America.
The 36-hole competition is featuring  golfers from 16 clubs across the country.

Senate President David Mark, an avid golfer declared  that he intended to use his foundation to expose young Nigerian golfers to international rudiments of golf as well foster friendship and cross cultural relationships among the citizens of the world.
“It will expose the Nigerian youths to the basics of golf and groom them to be stars in their own right and be good citizens of the world” he said.

Tournament co-ordinator, Mike Omeri said two of the best participants at the event which holed out today will be picked to play with the illustrious Tiger Woods.

According to Omeri, the processes of detecting age cheats were put in place by the foundation which asked the entrants to present their birth certificates and signed attestations by the golf committee of their respective home clubs.

The tournament is open to golfers not older than 19 years old. It  ends today with a dinner and presentation of prizes to the winners by Speaker of House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole.
