IBADAN—FORMER Governor of Oyo State , Alhaji Lam Adesina has called on the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Ogbonaya Onovo to prevent another high profile killing in the state by taking decisive action on the alarm raised by the candidate of the All Nigeria Peoples Party, in the 2007 poll, Senator Abiola Ajimobi.
Senator Ajimobi had raised alarm that the state government had allegedly listed some Ibadan prominent politicians who are considered threats to actualization of its dream come 2011for elimination.
But Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala through his Special Adviser on Public Communication, Prince Dotun Oyelade dismissed the allegations, saying it was a mere fallacy.
Lam Adesina, who has lately been critical of the administration of Governor Alao-Akala said the state, having lost its prominent sons and daughter to unresolved political assassinations, cannot afford to lose other politicians.
To check this, he explained that the IG should investigate the matter seriously as the state may not survive any other political unrest again.
Adesina noted further that the issue became more worrisome considering the arrays of unresolved killings that the state had witnessed.
The ex-governor said, “all those mentioned as targets of political assassinations are notable politicians who may be considered a threat to unwholesome quest of some members of the ruling cliché to subject the state to further agony beyond 2011â€.
He added that with “the arrays of unresolved political assassinations recorded in the state, we cannot but express worries over the matter as we do not want to witness another killing similar to those of Chiefs Bola Ige, Layi Balogun, Suliat Adedeji among others againâ€.
