*As court grants bail
By Ise-Oluwa Ige
ABUJA -Â The Police yesterday arraigned 36 suspected members of Boko Haram before a Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Abuja over unlawful assembly. The police did not say that they were in possession of dangerous cudgels.
But the prosecution counsel, Usman Jubril, told the court yesterday that all the suspects were arrested in a truck on their way to Lagos from Kano.
As soon as the charge was read to them, they took turn to plead not guilty to the criminal offence preferred against them.
They were later granted bail by the court.
The police told the court, “the suspects were arrested on their way to Lagos from Kano in Zuba, Abuja. When they were arrested, they could not give satisfactory explanation about where they were goingâ€. The case has been adjourned to September 9, for continuation.
