Babura (Jigawa) – As part of its bid to encourage schools attendance, enrollment and retention, Babura Local Government Council of Jigawa State has concluded arrangements to allocate two sets of uniforms to 44,000 pupils and students free of charge.
The councilâ€™s chairman, Alhaji Aminu Ahmad Babura who disclosed this to newsmen, added that the gesture was to reduce the burden and expenses incurred by parents in sponsoring their kids to schools. He said that the uniforms were ready and that Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido will soon launch the donation of the uniforms to school children at a grand ceremony to be held in Babura town.
Babura explained that the council spent N42m for the purchase of the cloth and sewing of the uniforms.
He stated that within the last one and half years in office, the council has constructed two blocks of four classrooms at Kanya Babba, Babura West, Garun Uku, and Garin Fulani including the office of the headmaster.
