The Nigerian Army said yesterday that it has furnished the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), with documents and related evidence of some contractors (names with-held) who are bent on swindling the army of hundreds of millions through frivolous claims of projects exexcution.
According to a statement signed by Brigadier-General Chris Olukolade, the contractors under the sponsorship of some powerful individuals have been found to be the brains behind persistent and fabricated insinuations aimed at undermining the Nigerian Army.
The statement reads,“The Nigerian Army has through investigations come to the full realisation that these group of persons are not only given to the application of some clandestine approaches to defraud the taxpayers and unsuspecting members of the public, but also have a strong sense of disdain to the principles of due process, transparency and accountability.
“The characters behind the claims have been made known to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
