A pressure group, the Niger Delta Coalition Initiative for Peace and Development (NDCIPD), has urged the Federal Government to be transparent about its amnesty package.
In a statement signed by the Chairman and Secretary, Comrades Emmanuel Moroh and Gbabo Tarila respecti-vely, the group urged the Federal Government to continually liaise with Niger Delta stakeholders and leaders of thoughts in the region.
According to the group, dialogue and understanding remain the panacea to the crisis in the Niger Delta, that they will help in resolving the neglect and crisis that has befallen the region for long.
It noted that massive employment and empower-ment opportunities should be made available by the government and multina-tionals to youths in the region to curb youth restiveness and criminalities, and also that the government should demilitarise the region and open up the watersway.
“The Federal Government should resettle and rehabilitate displaced victims of Gbaramatu clan. This will show the seriousness of the FG to the plight of the region,†the group said.
