By Chioma Obinna

Lagos – The Editor of Allure Vanguard, Mrs Remmy Diagbare decried, yesterday, the rising cases of cardiovascular diseases in the country, saying that arrangements have been concluded on the need to mount a massive campaign against the diseases.

Briefing journalists in Lagos on the 2nd edition of Allure Vanguard’s annual wellness seminar tagged: Women on Wellness 2 Expose,WOW 2; and  holding 12 September 2009 in Lagos, Mrs Diagbare said attention would be focused exclusively on massive awareness on women’s health and the family as a whole, adding that this “is informed by the need to provide relevant information on woman’s health with a view to bridging the gap between woman and wellness.

Dignitaries expected at the seminar include: Osun State Deputy Governor, Erelu Olusola Obada as special guest of honour, Chairperson will be Hon. Abike Dabiri while Managing Director of Poise Nigeria, Mr. Mavis Isibor will be the special guest speaker among others.

Regretting that Nigerians are more fashion conscious instead of taking care of their health,  Diagbare noted that WOW 2 would afford participants opportunity to be aware of the dangers preventable diseases pose to Nigerian women.

She further blamed the poor health of Nigerians on lack of information, stressing that the country’s health indices continue to worsen day- by -day due to the facts that there are no enough information on health.

The Editor of Allure Vanguard pointed out that 10 years ago people were healthier because they adopted better life styles then. “I must confess, if the trend continues as it is today, many people will die due to various diseases. There is the need for people to start eating right.

We have taken up the job to create awareness because we care. We can no longer watch our people kill themselves. Adopting an unhealthy lifestyle is a crime we are committing against ourselves. Let us join hands and create more awareness on our health.”

On the theme of the seminar, “The Balancing Act: Attaining Work-Life Balance” billed to hold Eko Hotels & Suites, Lagos, she explained that “there is the need for wellness and people must be healthy.

“At Allure WOW 2 Expose, we believe that each woman is unique and special. We believe that nourishing our souls is as important as nourishing our bodies. We believe in treating our bodies with respect, without becoming obsessive about them.”
