BENIN—ACTION Congress (AC), has said it would hold what it described as the “mother of all rallies,†in Akoko-Edo tomorrow, even as it is kick-starting Campaign for its candidate, Alhaji Kabiru Adjoto to signal its preparedness for the re-run election into the Akoko-Edo North Constituency scheduled to hold on August 22.
A statement by its Publicity Secretary, Mr. Reti Uzi,  yesterday said the party was fully on ground to reclaim the seat because “Akoko-Edo has a date with history. The people of that local government area are naturally progressives.
Right from the first Republic till date; Action Group, Unity party of Nigeria, Social Democratic Party (SDP), All Peoples Party (APP) and All Nigerian Peoples Party (ANPP), that local government has always been intact and progressive in their pattern of voting.
We have no fear at all. However, we want to use this means to call on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to be sincere in the conduct of the election to avoid the Ekiti-Oye episode rearing its ugly head here in Edo State.
Already, information at our disposal reveals that they are already altering voters’ register to the advantage of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) while fresh registration of voters is also on-going secretly in the local government area.
We suspect double standard in all these and we urge the INEC to retrace its steps.â€
“The party machinery at the highest level would be on ground. The people at the grassroots have been well mobilised for the campaign at Ibillo Market Square on Friday and you can be sure of the grassroots support of the party.
Akoko-Edo people cannot continue to suffer pains from the political desperation of some self-appointed moral sheriffs because, one man has persistently maintained that those pains must be healed and that is Comrade Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole.
He has shown through his attitude to governance that politics should not be allowed to becloud the sense of the obvious.
The Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole represents the symbol of the freedom of Edo people and by extension, Akoko-Edo people from the colonisation of one man who whose ambition is the expansion of his political territory from another Senatorial District.
The PDP is in disarray even in Akoko-Edo and as you well know that no political party can make headway in any election with its house in disarray.
They have tried in vain to resolve their lingering differences and the crisis is fast eroding the remains of the PDP. We will sack these hawks at the polls.â€
