UYO—26 members of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly have threatened to decamp from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party should the National haedquarters of the party continue with moves to reduce Governor Akpabio’s political powers by harmonizing the hierarchy of the state party executives, just as factions within the party is deepening.
The House in a unanimous decision taken after about six hours of closed door meeting with the governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio, made the resolution in a motion moved by the Speaker of the state Assembly, Ignatius Edet and sent to the National Executive Council (NEC) of the party in a swift move to stop Attah’s faction from having upper hand in with the overtures of the current opposition to replace the state chairman of the party.
The House members, all of the ruling party, in the resolution categorically stated that they would no longer contend with the numerous threats, blackmail and moves to incite the people against the government of Governor Akpabio, adding that should the party at the National level succumb to mounting political pressures from a faction of the party, they would decamp en mass and leave the party to fall.
The party also decided to immediately arrange a fund raising ceremony to contribute towards the building of the National Secretariat of the party in Abuja, still as part of the design to curry the favour of the party.
Meanwhile, Senator John James Udoedghe, former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, and high profile politician in one of the known opposition camps, has declared his intention to run for the gubernatorial election come 2011.
Some prominent politicians have also started romancing with the various known factions already existing, trying to ascertain which camp should hold an ace to what they want and from where they could perhaps obtain their tickets.

Among the past governoors of Akwa Ibom State,Who can be compared to the developmental projects executed by the present administration cutting across the three senetorial district, I think our so called political fathers once the national cake is not sheared and when the Gov.is gaining support of its physical projects they are all afraid of the second tenure of Gov.Akpabio.
Certainly this is an indication that governor akpabio is panicking too early in the day. He is campaigning at burials, churches, weddings and every public function against no one elese but himself. Why panic?
GOD FORBID godswill. Surely he is a one-term governor. The house motion is irrelevant just as the house itself has been all through Godswill Akpabio’s reign.
By getting the 26 members by hook or crook to move a useles resolution against the decision of both President Yar’Adua and the National Exco of the PDP, Akpabio is betraying his political insecurity and desperation. It is surprising that Akpabio is turning every opportunity including burials into a campaign arena and with all the money at his disposal, he is panicking so glaringly. The people of Akwa Ibom State have already moved a motion in their consciences that Akpabio must go and he will go, no matter the billions of public money he is throwing around the country. Money factor will bow to God factor in God Almighty State. Watch out.
if they like they stay or go . after all a tree can not make a forest. only 26 of them cannot pull down akwaibom state PDP
Let us (Akwa Ibomites) pray these prayer bullets:
1. Any power man or woman distracting the good work of Godswill Akpabio be destroy by thunder, by fire in Jesus Name
2. All enemies of development in Akwa Ibom state fall down and die in Jesus Name.
3. Any wicked power contending with the power of God in the state be dethrone by thunder, by fire in Jesus Name.
They can’t succeed in pulling Akpabio down in Jesus Name, Amen
Akpabio has affected our lives. I therefore advice those enermies of progress to stop political hatred & accept what is good. God is watching them.
Politics they say is a dirty game but much as it may, I think the people of Akwa Ibom State know whom to support. Certainly, the Abuja politician and the so call Attah faction with no reasonable record of accomplishment should stop destabilizing the state.
One may be tempted to ask what does Attah want again having wasted eight years without touching the lives of Akwa Ibom people. Has he forgetting that Obasanjo once questioned him during a session in Ibom hall years back that he should tell the people what he has been doing with the money given to the State?. We do not want another wasted years by unprogressive and visionless politicians. Much as anybody can aspire to any political position in the State, I believe it should be on merit and proven records.
Akwa Ibom indigenes at home and in desperado are living witnesses to Akpabio’s democracy dividend, which Attach could not deliver during his eight years tenure.
Attah and his gang of looters should berry their head in shame and allow Akpabio to continue with the good works he is doing. I am in support of the decision by members of the State House of Assembly should the pressure continue. AKWA IBOM ADO OK.
Politics is not all about insulting elders. W.H.Y do you now decide to lobby / use House of Assembly ?. fake law-breakers
