Awka – The All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) in Anambra state has set up a campaign committee comprising all the 21 local government chairmen of the party for the 2010 governorship election. The party also apologized to members for its dismal performance in the 2007 general elections in the state.
The Governorship candidate of the party in the state, Chief Mike Ejezie said during a meeting of the party’s stakeholders at Ihiala, that the problem was because ANPP went into wrong hands.
“For the 2010 election, I am prepared and I assure you that what happened in 2007 will not repeat itself. No matter the number of people contesting for the governorship, I am prepared to face them. We have decided that the party structure should be the campaign structure and that is why we have called all the local government chairmen to intimate them of the decision.
“If we win the election, all the chairmen will partake in the government, having worked hard and that is why we want all of you to see this project as yours,†he said.
Ejezie noted that Anambra state has been unfortunate with leadership since the present democratic dispensation, adding that there was so much insecurity in the state, which could be solved through community policing.
According to him, what the state needs is a visionary leader in the mould of the late Michael Okpara and Nnamdi Azikiwe, who sacrificed everything to ensure the development of the former Eastern region. He promised to manage the state well if given the opportunity.
He also explained that as part of efforts to ensure Igbo unity, his administration would involve people from the neighbouring states into his cabinet.
