Windstorm accompanied by torrential rain has destroyed over 30 houses and rendered several families homeless in Madobi Local Government Area of Kano State.
Reports from the council indicate that Tudun Wadar Madobi was worst hit by the natural disaster as victims were said to have taken refuge with their relations while others are quartered at the public building.
Government Secondary School, Madobi was affected, a situation that has now compelled students to study at an open place.
Reports say no life was lost while those who sustained injuries have been treated at the town health centres.
A resident of the town who spoke with Vanguard Abdullahi Bala explained that “It’s a tragedy most of us have not seen over the past 40 years. A substantial part of the town is in ruins and shambles while many have taken refuge with loved ones that are lucky.â€
Abdullahi Bala therefore appealed to the state Government and Madobi local council to assist the affected victims with relief materials and accomodation.
Effort by Vanguard to seek the reaction of the Council chairman on the step taken so far to address the emergency proved abortive as he was away and could not be reached on phone.
