Imo State Governor, Chief Ikedi ohakim, says his return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) not only mark the political re-alignment of the state but will also ensure that Imo remains a model modern state, where peace and stability reigns supreme.
Ohakim in a radio and television broadcast to Imo people after a ceremony at Dan Anyiam Stadium Complex, Owerri, where he announced his return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the weekend, said his return to the PDP would effectively checkmate political gangsterism and adventurism now rampant in the state, adding that this move would give government the momentum to take the state to the next level, the people more prosperous and the Federal Government more friendly and accommodating.
Chief Ohakim also said that he was not a new comer but a foundation member of PDP at its birth in 1998, adding that Imo people decided that this political re-alignment must take place.
He was happy that President Umaru Yar’Adua was present to receive all the aggrieved founding members of the PDP in the state, who returned to the party in the true spirit of reconciliation.
The Governor urged the people not to entertain any fears, as the PDP of today has learnt from the mistakes of the past.
Ohakim called on politicians in the state to eschew bitterness of the past and play by the rules of the game.
