By Bishop David Oyedepo
Last week, I brought to you an introductory segment of this series on faith. In defining faith, I said it is behaving according to God’s Word so as to become God’s will. This week, I will show you other definitions of faith for clarity of purpose.
Faith is a weapon of war: You need faith to enter into anything that God has packaged for your destiny. It is a weapon of war. No wonder, the Bible says: “Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.” (Ephesians 6:16). Faith is for fighting, not for talking. No wonder, Paul told Timothy to fight the good fight of faith. (I Timothy 6:12).
Until you are a fighter, you don’t become a winner. Faith is a principal aspect of the whole armour of God. So, it is for fighting, not for playing. You are to yet overcome many things because you are yet to fight them. When you fight, you will always win. When you engage in a faith battle, it is a good fight. That means the end is sure! (I John 5:4). Every time you are standing firm and violently in faith, you stand victorious. Only fighters become winners!
Don’t watch the enemy gain ground in your family, business, career, body, mind, etc. Don’t watch him have his way in your life. Fight him to a finish! Now, look around your life and see whatever has not been working and force it to work! The kingdom of God suffers violence and it is only the violent that takes it by force (Matthew 11:12). That force is the force of faith!
In the early days of our Christianity, pastors who didn’t see themselves as working, never received wages from above. This is because God has said that he who does not work should not eat (II Thessalonians 3:10). So, their families suffered hunger. The way you see yourself is the way you live! God has never failed to pay me once, since I started working for Him. I see myself working, and I am actually working. I would never have worked for any organization the way I am working now, and no organization could have paid me the way God is paying me, for God is not a robber. He is a great rewarder!
Faith is seeing it the way God sees it: Faith is seeing it the way God sees it. As far as your eyes can see, it shall be given to you. For instance, I am aware that Christ has raised me up together with Him in heavenly places. Where is this place? Ephesians 1:20 says: “Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places.”
I saw the picture of being far above, and that mentality has helped me against any struggle with demonic people. I am not at the same level with them, so I can’t be struggling with them. That is what God said and I see it with Him, and as I walk in the consciousness of it, I have unusual victory. The problem with many people is ignorance. Until you begin to see the way God sees, you may remain stranded for life. Satan is not your problem. There is no mountain anywhere; every man’s ignorance is his mountain. The entrance of God’s Word gives light (Psalm 119:130). That light shines in darkness and darkness can’t comprehend it. (John 1:5).
Whenever you locate the appropriate Word, you keep the devil permanently under your feet. Just see things the way God sees them, so you can keep commanding the same order of results that He commanded.
Faith is a power point: Faith is a power point that connects you to the power of God, which enables you to become what you have believed. Apostle Paul said: “I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth.” (Romans 1:16). When that power comes, you will become what you believe. You are not disadvantaged; you are not under-privileged. All you need is brighter light and that is what God is passing across to you in this article. May you take full advantage of it!
Faith is not an intellectual fact, it is a spiritual force. What you believe, determines what you become. Faith is the covenant trigger for the release of the supernatural (Luke 1:45). We have to get back to the basics; we have to get back to begin from the starting point.
Let me conclude at this point by summarizing my understanding of faith this way: I see faith as a spiritual power point that translates the human into the divine realm. Why do I say this? If you can believe, your status is supernaturally changed; you are now able to handle what only God can handle (Mark 9:23). If you are limited to only what man can do, you are not in faith. So, be awake please!
Friend, the grace to get connected to the power of God, so you can become what you have believed is available, if you are born again. You become born again by confessing your sins and accepting Jesus as your Saviour and Lord. You can be born again now if you are set, as you say this prayer: “Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I am a sinner. I cannot help myself. Forgive me my sins. Cleanse me with Your precious blood. Deliver me from sin and Satan, to serve the living God. Today, I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Thank You Jesus for saving me! Now I know I am born again!”
