ABUJA – The Senate has expressed its dissatisfaction with the poor implementation of the 2009 budget by President Umaru Yar’Adua, particularly the non-implementation of the N60 billion constituency projects.
The Senate also, yesterday, disclosed that it would scrutinise the 2009 budget to ascertain the level of implementation with a view to find out whether it is a deliberate act on the part of the Presidency not to have implemented the consti-tuency budgets.
The Chairman, Senate Committee on Information and Media, Senator Ayogu Eze, disclosed during a briefing held at the National Assembly, Abuja, that decisions to scrutinise the budget was taken during close session. He said that the Senate is inundated with complaints from Senators on the non-implementation of the constituency projects.
He added that Senators are worried that the money meant for the constituency could be returned to the nation’s treasury if nothing is done about implementation.
